Another massive weekend across Texas college baseball brought statement wins, important conference series, and several teams fighting for momentum heading into the postseason stretch. Texas responded after a rough opener in Knoxville, Texas A&M salvaged a difficult weekend in Oxford, and Texas State continued rolling through Sun Belt play.

Here’s this week’s edition of the Texas College Baseball Stock Report.

Stock Up

Texas Longhorns

Even though Texas did not win the series, the Longhorns responded in a big way after a rough Friday night in Knoxville.

After dropping the opener 5-1, Texas bounced back offensively:

  • Tennessee 14 – Texas 9
  • Texas 13 – Tennessee 6

The Longhorns showed resilience against one of the top teams in the country and avoided a sweep on the road. The offense came alive over the final two games, which is an encouraging sign heading into the postseason stretch.

Texas may have lost the series, but leaving Knoxville with a Sunday statement win still matters.

Texas State Bobcats

Texas State handled business on the road and continues looking like one of the more dangerous Sun Belt teams.

The Bobcats swept Arkansas State:

  • Texas State 6 – Arkansas State 2
  • Texas State 8 – Arkansas State 3
  • Texas State 15 – Arkansas State 9

The offense remained consistent all weekend, and the Bobcats continue to stack quality conference wins at the right time of year.

Rice Owls

Rice delivered a strong weekend against East Carolina.

The Owls took two of three:

  • Rice 10 – East Carolina 5
  • Rice 5 – East Carolina 3
  • East Carolina 3 – Rice 0

Winning a road AAC series against East Carolina is never easy, and Rice continues trending upward entering the final stretch.

Sam Houston Bearkats

Sam Houston bounced back nicely after Friday’s loss to Delaware.

The Bearkats won the final two games convincingly:

  • Delaware 2 – Sam Houston 13
  • Delaware 1 – Sam Houston 8

Strong pitching and improved offensive consistency helped SHSU secure an important conference series win.

Houston Christian Huskies

Houston Christian finished the weekend with a strong response against Lamar.

After dropping the first two games:

  • Lamar 10 – HCU 3
  • Lamar 5 – HCU 3

The Huskies avoided the sweep Sunday:

  • Houston Christian 9 – Lamar 5

The offense showed life late in the weekend, and HCU continues to compete well in the Southland Conference.

Texas A&M Aggies

The Aggies had a rollercoaster weekend in Oxford, but salvaging momentum mattered.

After losing the opener 5-3 and then falling 6-5 in another close battle, A&M responded with an emphatic 18-5 victory over Ole Miss.

That offensive explosion prevented the weekend from turning into a complete disaster and showed the Aggies still have plenty of fight heading toward postseason play.

Stock Down

Baylor Bears

It was a rough weekend in Waco.

The Bears dropped the series to UCF:

  • UCF 8 – Baylor 0
  • UCF 19 – Baylor 3
  • Baylor 8 – UCF 7

The offense disappeared for most of the series, and Baylor’s pitching staff struggled badly in Game 2. Avoiding the sweep on Sunday helped slightly, but this was still a difficult weekend overall.

UTSA Roadrunners

UTSA had opportunities this weekend but couldn’t finish against Memphis.

The Roadrunners dropped the series:

  • Memphis 6 – UTSA 4
  • UTSA 9 – Memphis 2
  • Memphis 10 – UTSA 5

The inconsistency continues to hurt UTSA late in the season.

Dallas Baptist Patriots

DBU continues struggling to close out weekends.

The Patriots lost the series to Western Kentucky:

  • Western Kentucky 7 – DBU 4
  • DBU 5 – Western Kentucky 3
  • Western Kentucky 11 – DBU 8

The pitching staff had difficulty containing Western Kentucky’s offense throughout the weekend, especially in the finale.

Houston Cougars

Houston showed flashes this weekend, but still couldn’t secure the series against Arizona.

The Cougars won on Friday:

  • Houston 7 – Arizona 4

But dropped the final two:

  • Arizona 5 – Houston 4
  • Arizona 6 – Houston 5

Close losses continue haunting Houston during conference play.

Lamar Cardinals

Lamar entered the weekend with momentum but couldn’t close out the series cleanly against Houston Christian.

The Cardinals won the first two games:

  • Lamar 10 – HCU 3
  • Lamar 5 – HCU 3

But dropped the finale:

  • Houston Christian 9 – Lamar 5

Late-season consistency remains an issue.

Final Thoughts

Conference races across Texas are starting to tighten up heading into the final weeks of the regular season. Texas may not have won the series at Tennessee, but the Longhorns still showed plenty of fight after a difficult opener. Meanwhile, Texas State, Rice, and Sam Houston continue building momentum heading into postseason play.

At the same time, programs like Baylor, UTSA, DBU, and Houston are running out of time to regain consistency before tournament play begins.

One thing is clear: Texas college baseball is heating up at exactly the right time.
