Stock Up
Texas Longhorns
Texas continues to trend in the right direction after a strong weekend against SEC competition.
- Series Win vs #10 Mississippi State
- Sunday: Texas 11 – Mississippi State 6
The Longhorns delivered in all phases—pitching, timely hitting, and closing out games. Winning a series against a ranked SEC opponent is a major statement this time of year.
UT Rio Grande Valley
UTRGV put together one of the most complete weekends of any Texas program.
- Friday: UTRGV 4 – Incarnate Word 3
- Saturday: UTRGV 7 – Incarnate Word 5
- Sunday: UTRGV 5 – Incarnate Word 0
Series Sweep + Shutout Finish
The Vaqueros were sharp all weekend, especially on the mound. Sweeping a conference opponent and finishing with a shutout puts them firmly on the rise.
Rice Owls
Rice is starting to find rhythm offensively at the right time.
- Saturday: Rice 16 – UAB 9
- Sunday: Rice 10 – UAB 3
The bats showed up in a big way, and Rice controlled the weekend with consistent run production.
Dallas Baptist Patriots
DBU continues to stack wins and stay consistent quietly.
- Friday: DBU 4 – Louisiana Tech 1
- Sunday: DBU 9 – Louisiana Tech 7
They continue to handle business and remain one of the most reliable programs in Texas.
UTSA Roadrunners
UTSA delivered a solid, controlled weekend performance.
- Saturday: UTSA 13 – Wichita State 7
- Sunday: UTSA 6 – Wichita State 3
Balanced play on both sides of the ball helped UTSA take control and close out the series.
Stock Down
Texas A&M Aggies
Texas A&M showed fight late, but couldn’t recover from a tough start.
- Saturday: Auburn 18 – Texas A&M 5
- Sunday: Texas A&M 4 – #8 Auburn 3
Avoiding the sweep helps, but dropping the series—especially with a lopsided loss—keeps the Aggies trending slightly down.
Houston Cougars
Houston continues to struggle in tight situations.
- Friday: Cincinnati 3 – Houston 2
- Sunday: Cincinnati 4 – Houston 3
Close games continue to go the wrong way. At this stage of the season, those losses add up quickly.
Texas State Bobcats
Texas State couldn’t keep pace this weekend.
- Friday: South Alabama 6 – Texas State 2
- Sunday: South Alabama 7 – Texas State 4
The Bobcats were outmatched across the series and never fully found momentum.
Sam Houston Bearkats
Sam Houston ran into a tough weekend and couldn’t slow things down.
- Friday: Kennesaw State 6 – Sam Houston 5
- Sunday: Kennesaw State 12 – Sam Houston 1
The Sunday result especially stands out. Giving up double-digit runs in a finale is a tough way to close a series.
TCU Horned Frogs
TCU was right there—but couldn’t finish.
- Friday: Oklahoma State 7 – TCU 6
- Sunday: Oklahoma State 11 – TCU 10
Two one-run losses highlight the issue. The Frogs are competitive, but closing games remains a problem.
Final Thoughts
This weekend gave us a clearer picture of where teams stand heading into the stretch run.
- Texas is trending like a legitimate contender
- UTRGV is one of the hottest teams in the state
- Rice and UTSA are gaining momentum at the right time
- Texas A&M shows fight, but inconsistency remains
