East Texas Baptist University’s 2026 season came to an end at the NCAA Division III College World Series, but not before the Tigers put together one of the most memorable postseason runs in program history.

ETBU advanced from the NCAA Regional round, captured a Super Regional title, and reached Eastlake, Ohio, as one of the final eight teams remaining in Division III baseball. Along the way, the Tigers knocked off nationally ranked opponents and represented Texas baseball on the national stage.

A Historic Postseason Journey

The Tigers entered the postseason with high expectations and quickly proved they belonged among the nation’s elite. ETBU consistently delivered timely hitting, strong pitching performances, and resilient play throughout the NCAA Tournament.

After surviving regional competition, the Tigers earned a trip to the Division III College World Series in Eastlake, Ohio. There, they opened the tournament with one of the biggest wins in program history.

ETBU Stuns No. 1 Denison

In their opening game at the College World Series, East Texas Baptist handed top-ranked Denison its second loss of the season with a convincing 5-1 victory.

The Tigers collected 11 hits while limiting one of the nation’s most potent offenses to just four hits. ETBU’s pitching staff controlled the game from the start, and the Tigers capitalized on defensive miscues to secure the upset.

The win immediately put ETBU in championship contention and showcased the Tigers’ ability to compete with anyone in the country.

Another Statement Win

ETBU followed its opening-round victory by defeating Baldwin Wallace 7-6 in a tightly contested matchup.

The Tigers again showed their resilience, overcoming late pressure to remain unbeaten in the tournament. With the victory, ETBU moved within one win of the national championship series.

At that point, East Texas Baptist had won multiple games against nationally ranked competition and positioned itself among the final teams standing in Division III baseball.

Denison Responds

The Tigers faced Denison again with a berth in the championship series on the line. This time, the Big Red responded with a 13-2 victory, forcing ETBU into an elimination game.

Despite the loss, ETBU continued to battle and earned another opportunity to keep its season alive.
