The 2026 NCAA Division II Baseball postseason provided plenty of memorable moments for Lone Star Conference baseball, highlighted by an incredible run by UT Tyler that carried the Patriots all the way to the Final Four.

After surviving one of the toughest conferences in Division II baseball and capturing both the Lone Star Conference regular season and tournament championships, UT Tyler continued its remarkable season by advancing through the NCAA Regional and Super Regional rounds before reaching the NCAA Division II Baseball Championship in Cary, North Carolina.

Lone Star Conference Tournament

The road to the national tournament began in Tyler, where the Lone Star Conference Championship featured four of the league’s top programs battling for the title.

Opening Round Results

Lubbock Christian defeated St. Edward’s 2-1 in the series

  • Game 1: Lubbock Christian 10, St. Edward’s 0
  • Game 2: St. Edward’s 4, Lubbock Christian 8

St. Mary’s defeated West Texas A&M 2-1 in the series

  • Game 1: St. Mary’s 12, West Texas A&M 4
  • Game 2: West Texas A&M 5, St. Mary’s 3
  • Game 3: St. Mary’s 2, West Texas A&M 1

Angelo State defeated Texas A&M-Kingsville 2-1 in the series

  • Game 1: Angelo State 14, Texas A&M-Kingsville 4
  • Game 2: Texas A&M-Kingsville 6, Angelo State 4
  • Game 3: Angelo State 12, Texas A&M-Kingsville 2

Top-seeded UT Tyler hosted the double-elimination championship round.

The Patriots captured the Lone Star Conference Tournament Championship and secured momentum heading into the NCAA Tournament.

NCAA Regional Round

Three Lone Star Conference teams earned bids to the NCAA Tournament.

Tyler Regional

UT Tyler opened regional play with an 8-1 victory over MSU Denver before defeating Angelo State 5-1 to advance to the regional championship.

Angelo State battled back through the elimination bracket but ultimately fell twice to the Patriots, including a 5-0 defeat in the regional final.

Super Regional

The final remaining Lone Star Conference representative was UT Tyler.

The Patriots traveled to Grand Junction and stunned Colorado Mesa with a 21-15 victory in Game 1 of the Super Regional.

Colorado Mesa responded with a 20-4 win in Game 2, setting up a decisive Game 3.

UT Tyler answered the challenge and secured an 8-5 victory to punch its ticket to Cary and the NCAA Division II Baseball Championship.

NCAA Division II Baseball Championship

UT Tyler entered Cary as one of the final eight teams remaining in Division II baseball.

The Patriots opened championship play with an impressive 8-3 victory over Central Missouri before suffering an 8-2 loss to West Chester.

Facing elimination, UT Tyler stayed alive with an 11-7 victory over Central Missouri.

The Patriots then met West Chester once again in a winner-take-all matchup for a berth in the championship series.

Despite another strong effort, UT Tyler’s remarkable season came to an end in a 6-5 defeat.

A Season to Remember

While the season ended one step short of the national championship series, UT Tyler established itself as one of the premier programs in Division II baseball.

The Patriots captured the Lone Star Conference regular-season title, won the Lone Star Conference Tournament Championship, advanced through the NCAA Regional and Super Regional rounds, and reached the Final Four in the nation.

The postseason also showcased the overall strength of Lone Star Conference baseball, with Angelo State, St. Mary’s, and Lubbock Christian all earning NCAA Tournament appearances.

As the 2026 season comes to a close, UT Tyler’s run to Cary will be remembered as one of the most successful seasons in program history and another example of the elite level of baseball being played throughout the Lone Star Conference.
