An extended weekend of Texas college baseball is in the books, and with schedules adjusted around Easter, teams had four days to make their mark.
Some programs rose to the occasion with statement wins, while others showed signs of inconsistency as conference play continues to heat up.
Here’s your Texas College Baseball Weekend Stock Report (4/2–4/5)—highlighting who’s trending up and who’s trending down across the state.
Stock Up
Texas Longhorns
Texas showed exactly why they’re one of the top teams in the country.
After dropping the opener against South Carolina, the Longhorns responded with back-to-back wins to take the series on the road. That kind of bounce-back speaks volumes about this team’s maturity and ability to adjust.
Winning a road SEC series is never easy—and Texas handled it like a contender.
Texas A&M Aggies
The Aggies put together one of the strongest finishes of the weekend.
After struggling earlier against Vanderbilt, Texas A&M responded with two big wins, including a dominant 12-0 shutout to close the series. That response keeps them firmly inside the Top 25 conversation.
When this team is clicking, they’re dangerous.
Texas Tech Red Raiders
Texas Tech bounced back in a big way.
Following a midweek loss to Houston, the Red Raiders responded with a strong showing over the weekend, including a convincing win over Abilene Christian. The offense came alive, and the pitching held steady.
This is a team that could build momentum quickly.
TCU Horned Frogs
TCU continues to take care of business quietly.
A solid win over Kansas State to close out the weekend highlights a team playing consistent baseball. They may not be flashy, but they’re doing what good teams do—winning games they should.
UTSA Roadrunners
UTSA showed resilience this weekend.
After a tough extra-inning loss earlier in the week, the Roadrunners responded with a dominant 13-0 shutout win over Rice. That kind of bounce-back performance is a strong sign for the future.
Texas State Bobcats
Texas State continues to trend upward.
The Bobcats picked up multiple wins over Georgia Southern, including an impressive 15-5 offensive performance. This team is gaining confidence and becoming one to watch.
Stock Down
Sam Houston Bearkats
It was a rough weekend for Sam Houston.
The offense struggled to produce, and the team was shut out in a run-rule loss to Missouri State. Consistency at the plate remains a concern as competition ramps up.
Houston Cougars
Houston showed flashes—but couldn’t sustain it.
After a strong win over Texas Tech, the Cougars dropped games later in the weekend and struggled to maintain momentum. There’s potential here, but consistency is still lacking.
Baylor Bears
Baylor had an up-and-down weekend.
Losses to Tarleton and BYU exposed inconsistencies, particularly on the mound. The pieces are there, but they haven’t put together a complete weekend yet.
Lamar Cardinals
Lamar faced a tough test—and it showed.
Going up against a ranked Oregon State team, the Cardinals struggled offensively and were shut out multiple times. It was a measuring-stick series that highlighted areas needing improvement.
Prairie View A&M
Prairie View couldn’t close out opportunities.
Despite being competitive at times, they gave up key runs late, including in a high-scoring loss to Florida A&M. Execution remains the biggest issue moving forward.
Final Thoughts
This extended weekend gave us a clearer look at the landscape of Texas college baseball.
Texas and Texas A&M continue to position themselves as serious contenders, while teams like Texas Tech, TCU, and Texas State are building momentum at the right time.
On the flip side, consistency remains the biggest question for several programs as conference play begins to separate the field.
One thing is clear—every weekend matters from here on out.
