The Texas Rangers were the World Series Champions 17 months ago, and Dane Dunning was named their Pitcher of the Year that season. How quickly time flies!

After a rough 2024 and a horrible 2025 spring training, Dane Dunning’s Texas Rangers career is very likely over. He will cost another team $2.66 Million Dollars if they want him, and the Rangers hope someone does. That money could then be used elsewhere in an in-season transaction.

Maybe a closer after the All-Star break?
He was a 1st round pick of the Washington Nationals in 2016. Frankly, he has been as good as almost everyone picked before him in that draft. Picked right after him with the 30th pick of that draft…Cole Ragans by the Texas Rangers!

He has had a nice career with the Rangers. They got him and Avery Weems, who pitched in 3 games without giving up an earned run this spring for Texas, by the way, for Lance Lynn. Since the trade, Lynn has won 39 games with three teams: the White Sox, the Dodgers & the Cardinals. Dane Dunning has won 26 games with the Rangers since the deal.

They are now both available to any MLB team that wants them. I filmed this interview at Fanfest, standing next to Dane’s wife and their baby; they are good people!
