Trade Deadline Chatter with HTown Wheelhouse

For this article, I decided to do something I have not done yet in my time writing sports articles: an interview. Earlier this week, I was able to interview one of the hosts of the “Locked On Astros” podcast, Brett “HTown Wheelhouse” Chancey, and get his takes on the trade deadline chatter.

Q: What Position(s) do the Astros need to improve on?

A:

“First base, Centerfield, Leftfield depending on the return of Michael Brantley from the IL, and a left-handed relief pitcher. All of these are there and present, but they need to consider the cost…and who they go after.”

Q: Which player(s) do you realistically see the Astros making a move for?

A:

“I see the Astros picking up or being able to pick up Josh Bell. They could go after Willson Contreras, Christian Walker from the DBacks, I see Bryan Reynolds name talked about, but I think the Pirates will want too much. Andrew Chafin is someone they could add alongside Pablo Lopez and Tanner Scott.”

Q: Which Astros players or prospects do you see possibly being traded?

A:

“The Astros players that could possibly be moved are Luis Garcia which I don’t want to think about, but he is a real possibility because of his team control; they could go for a big enough name. Jose Urquidy, who I would not mind moving on from, Jose Siri’s glove, speed, and potential power plays on a contender as an extra outfielder. Peter Mushinski, Chas McCormick, Peter Solomon, Corey Julks, and Yainer Diaz.”

“The bottom line is (James) Click is going to make moves that are calculated, ones that don’t cost the team at the expense of long-term success. Another big part Click says he will consider is how trades affect this club not only chemistry-wise but their strengths that will help.”

Who do you want to see the Astros add at the trade deadline? Let me know in the comments, and be sure to check out the Locked on Astros podcast, a daily podcast that can be found on Youtube, Spotify, and wherever you get your podcasts.
