The Angelo State Rams (44-9) are coming off one of the best seasons in school history. Coming off a Lone Star Conference title and an appearance in the NCAA Divison II College World Series in 2021, all eyes will be on the Rams in 2022 as they push to repeat in the LSC.

The Rams will be looking to build off a 2021 season that earned them a Lone Star Conference title and an NCAA Divison II College World Series semi-final appearance, which was enough to select the Rams as the preseason favorite to win the LSC in 2022.

For the Rams to get back to the Division II College World Series, the team will lean heavily on Preseason Player of the Year selection, senior infielder Aaron Walters. A season ago, Walters batted .410, with 67 RBIs in 53 games. Along with Walters, the Rams will turn to right-handed pitcher, redshirt junior Carson Childers to guide the Rams rotation.

Standing at 6-foot-5 and 235 pounds, Childers enters the 2022 season as the Preseason Pitcher of the Year. Last season, Childers finished the season with a 9-0 record, 2.06 ERA, 67 strikeouts in 56.2 innings pitched. Childers gave up only 13 earned runs while holding opposing hitters at bay with a .179 batting average.

The Rams kick off the season on Feb. 4 against LSC opponent UT-Tyler.
