The Houston Astros have added some bullpen depth with the recent signing of veteran free agent right-handed relief pitcher Hector Neris (pending physical) to a two-year deal worth $17 million.
As first reported by NBC Sports Philadelphia insider Jim Salisbury, the Astros reached an agreement with Neris to bring the veteran reliever to Houston for the next two seasons. Having spent his eight-year career with the Phillies, Neris comes to the Astros after finishing the 2021 season with a 3.63 ERA, 12 saves, and 98 strikeouts.
The Astros need to add depth to their bullpen as Kendall Graveman, Brooks Raley, and Yimi Garcia became free agents at the end of the season. With Graveman signing with the Chicago White Sox, Raley and Garcia are still options if the Astros choose to re-sign them both.
